If You Want Statement Furniture..This Is It

Good Afternoon!

About a month ago I was in Chicago with one of my friends and I had to hit up one of my favorite stores

Here are some of my favorites..
This sofa, which is extremely comfortable, speaks.  To me it has the right amount of funk, power and a touch of a tailored look.  I just have to point out the red chandelier..to die for.

This light is not just organically beautiful but casts amazing shadows on the walls.  Adds depth.

These illuminated planters are stunning.  Wonderful for a porch or around a swimming pool : )

I have not been able to get this chandelier out of my head.  This would be perfect in a smaller version over my dining table.  Definitely an investment piece.

What's catching your eye lately?  Any statement pieces?

BTW..
Thinking about everyone in the path of the fires in Colorado.  Our prayers are with you.

The Big Reveal : My DIY Garden Chandelier

Happy Friday!

If you remember how I took a trip to an awesome store here in town and I was inspired to create something a little unique.

I didn't walk away with much that day.
This project has been in my mind for 2yrs .. so..I hope you like it as much as we do : )

We started off with this..
I bought the hanging planter for $1.98 had to change out the hanger though because they told me that wasn't for sale..darn. I bought a chain hanger for $4 instead.

Spanish Moss.  Perfect for me because it can handle dry spells and you can put it on anything .. no soil : )
Looks a lot like spaghetti.  I bought 4 bunches of these to cover the planter well.

You will also need galvanized steel wire.  I had this laying around the house from a previous project.

I took the wire and began to wrap the base in a dream catcher fashion leaving enough space to get the spanish moss through.
Just keep going round and round with it.  I did that so I could have a base for a candle plate and a candle.  Side Note..Please use battery operated ones in case of fire.

I did not use any wire for the spanish moss...simply loop them through.

 (bottom rung)

Here is what it looked like with spanish moss complete..
I thought it needed more.  So back to the store I go and purchase faux forsythia.

I thought about cutting them and adding them in for some color..
(a little cardinal for something unexpected)

Some evening shots..

 In Nature..

What do you think?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and Happy Father's Day : )

99% .. Almost

It's Monday..another busy week.  How is everyone?  Hope you all are doing well.

As I mentioned last week I am at the beginning of the end for the teachers lounge transformation.  I was there last Friday from 4:30 - 9:30pm.  We are just around the corner to the finish line.  I did my best to cause as big a change as possible with the budget I had.  There are some things that could not be done for various reasons.  I wanted to share with you what did get finished this past Friday.

Starting to hang the chandeliers..

Do you like the fireplace wall with the long linear shelves?  I think it brings a coziness into the room.

These two are some of the greatest people I know.  She keeps everyone organized and on task..amazing! Her husband was one of the site leaders.  He is very calm and wonderful under pressure.

My girls helping assemble the Ikea chandeliers .

Got that mirror from the Thrifty Boutique.

In the process of hanging art.  That required some patience.. lol.

Hanging up the bar in the kitchenette.  He was such a great help : )

The chandeliers look great..brings interest in the space.

Almost done..still have to stage the bookshelves, tables, etc..

Finally the bar is up w/ hanging baskets and pots (from Ikea).  Will post more with it completely staged in August before the school year starts.

What do you think of the progress so far?  Do you think the teachers will enjoy it as their break room?

Light Candy

I love Twitter.
I love how you get connected to people you normally would have never crossed paths with and that's the case with Michael McHale.  He has stepped outside of the typical and created beauty out of industrial piping.
Shall I call him a Genius.
