I Have Taken The Plunge

Good Afternoon!

I love the color blue!  If you know anything about me .. I always gravitate to blue family.
The other thing you should know is that I usually stay away from strong bold colors for myself in decorating my home.

BUT..
I have found myself gravitating to the stronger more vibrant hue.

So, here's a sneak peek at my transformation..

There will be more to come..

What do you think about this color?

Stripes and More Stripes

Good Afternoon!

Stripes are making a statement in fashion for 2013

Which I am loving right now.

I am secretly dying over this dress.  Want one so bad!

We have seen stripes before in interior designs but how about taking it up a notch?

A boldly striped rug..

Strong stripes on walls..

or in an unusual pattern on your furniture.

I just recently purchased this striped beach blanket at an estate sale for $5..

You can bring it into your space in numerous ways..

Would you go bold or a more subtle touch?

A Little Taste Of Happy

Good Evening!

We are in wait of bad weather coming our way.  Yes, more snow!

My daughter had a great idea and usually they involve something sweet.  She made Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.  They are so good that I had to share with all of you.

Don't they look amazing? ( I ate about 4...shhh.  It's our secret)

Here is the recipe.. I know you'll enjoy it!

CHEWY PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
1 c. softened butter (2 sticks)
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
6 oz. chocolate or butterscotch chips (optional)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Combine butter, peanut butter, sugars and eggs. Stir in baking soda and flour and remaining ingredients. Mix well and drop by the teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet, leaving 1-inch space between cookies.Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for 10 minutes or just until set (depends upon size of cookies).
Remove to wire rack to cool. Store in refrigerator for best taste.
Makes about 50 cookies.

Tapestry Trend

Good Morning!

I love when things get reimagined.  I used to have a Tapestry jacket and oh, how I wish I had kept it!

The bright intricate colors and patterns are simply gorgeous!

How can we bring this into our homes?

Large tapestry wall..

or tapestry taxidermy

or as your area rug?

How are you feeling about this trend?

Would it be something you would incorporate in your space?

Bringing Spring Color : Foyer

Good Afternoon!

I can totally feel spring in the air. Spring always brings a newness and I am bringing that into my foyer.

I am on attack and getting rid of my old wall color. It's time for something fresh and alive :)

You can see I have begun painting and the old color on the opposite wall. Benjamin Moore ( Pearl Gray) is my go to color. It has the underlying mint hue in it and I am in love. It gives just the right amount of contrast I need without going completely gray.

Wait til you see where the Tucson Teal is going...

Highlight : The Saddle Office Chair

Good Morning!

Can I just say I have an obsession all things West Elm.  I mean I looove the place.

They have this new chair that has caught my eye and I thought I would share..

Love the mid-century design (which I am a sucker for) and the small pinstripes.

Feminine or masculine, this chair works.

BTW..
I finally finished painting my hallway.  Sorry the picture is grainy..
Feels so much brighter and I love the undertone of mint.  (the bathroom at the end of the hallway will get done at some point)

Wishing you all a great day!

Creating A Romantic Getaway Without Going Away

Good Morning!

Source: blog.zoosk.com via Sara on Pinterest

Valentine's Day is soon approaching and I have some ideas for creating romance..

For those of you that are fortunate to have usable attic space...create a hideaway.  You can even create this feeling in another room in your house too.

Rose petals in tub with a glass of wine

or petals on the bed

Don't forget the candlelight .. everyone looks better with candlelight

Simple ideas that can make this Valentine's Day really special.

Freshening Up

Good Morning!

I have gotten spring fever.  Yes, the restlessness I get when change is needed in my home.

A couple years ago we put in hickory flooring in our hallway, which I absolutely adore.  The paint color at the time I really liked and it went with just about everything.

Time has changed my mind.  I found that the yellowy undertone of the paint was picking up in the flooring.  I really don't like it.  It started making me feel sad.  Color can so affect your mood.

I have been so inspired by some interiors that have a lighter hue and the spaces feel so clean and fresh.

So here I am painting a light color on my wall (which by the way scares me...)

First coat down and today I put second coat on.  I will carry this color into my foyer and living room.  The hallway already feels so much better and so do I.

Just in case you're wondering I am using Benjamin Moore "Pearl Gray"

Have you caught spring fever yet?
How are you sprucing up your home for spring?

BTW..
Today I finalize on trim pieces for tile for client.  Can't wait to see the installation on that.
