Found Some Treasures...

It's Friday!  This means the kickstart to your weekend and for a lot of people "SHOPPING" : )
While I was out and about a couple of days ago I stopped in at one of my all time favorite stores Marshalls and saw some items that will give your home a little pick me up.

This rug is beautiful!  I especially love the blue and neutral to go with a variety of paint colors and styles.

The wall clock ... loving the mirror to add a little more sparkle.  And if one is not enough..

add a couple more for a more collected look.

Mirrors...I am so loving the gold right now

I found this and I love the quote.

Have a wonderful weekend and wishing you all Happily Ever After : )

New Things

Good Morning!

I just had my birthday here this past Saturday and I have been thinking on how I want to do new things.  I realize that another year has gone by and if "nothing changes then nothing changes".

Here is one of the new things I did.  Below you will see the still of my son and I.  We did a commercial for a hospital.  He was amazing!  We were on set for four hours and doing take after take after take and he never put up a fuss just kept smiling and so willing.

He taught me a lesson..to always be voluntary and to work at something even if it seems monotonous the end result will speak.

Click play....I hope you enjoy!

Showing Some Love Today

Good Morning!
My mornings always start late and it's because I go to bed at ungodly hours.  Today, however, I am not feeling too good.  I have this dang TMJ issue..if anyone has dealt with this I would love some advice : )

So since my brain isn't all there (scary) I thought I would share with you one of my favorite blogs.

Jessica always has fresh takes on design and I get a lot of my inspiration from her.  She is not afraid to challenge our thinking and push us beyond the limits of the box mentality.

So go check her out..I guarantee you will not be disappointed : )

Git-R-Done And Some Fun

Happy Friday, Everybody!!
We finally got snow here (not that I am complaining about all the warm weather we had) but it was so good to see my kids having fun sledding.

Our kitchen is definitely a work in progress and will be for quite some time as we make decisions and refund the budget : )
(Curt, our friend and contractor)

I hate the swirls in the ceilings.  That will have to be taken care of : )

Fixing the skylights from the inside.  Cracks and water damage no more.

Do you see that lovely piece of stainless steel?

It's my new LG dishwasher! Which we got here at a local store at a discount (love sales).  I am so excited.  It is so quiet.  My other one, I wish I had a picture of it, was so old that it sounded like a train coming through the kitchen...not to mention the front panel came off it too.  One appliance down and three more to go.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

It's All About The Jewelry

Good Morning!  I am writing this while trying to fry up some bacon.  Multi-talented I tell ya..lol.

A couple of days ago my girls wanted to go to the mall and they had three specific stores they wanted to visit.  The one store that we went to had color blocked all their jewelry.

(pink deliciousness)  I am so ready for spring.

Just like we get jewelry to bring out the best in our outfits.. I had to change the knobs in our kitchen.

If they had been solid brass (no white)  I would have reconsidered.

So, I began my hunt for the look I wanted at an incredible price.  This is what I found...

I fell in love with these because they would go with any look or color I wanted.  The clincher was the price at $1.19  I was in heaven : )

I'm going to enjoy my late breakfast now.  Have a great rest of the week.

Ummm..It's Time To Go

Good Morning!
I know you all know that renovations are a tedious process but when it's all complete the joy of accomplishment will be your pride and joy.  I do enjoy seeing the transformation no matter how slow the process.

Here is my kitchen..

It's a really good size for our family.  I have two skylights which I adore.
Now this is what I hate about the space
1. The flowery border...seriously!  It makes the height of my ceiling feel a lot lower.
2. The appliances that are old and white.
3.  Faux marble green countertops with the white edging
4. The fan..everytime I open the cabinet it smacks right into it.
5. The knobs that are gold with the center of white
6. The floor..yep, no terra cotta for me and finally...
7. I like color so the white paint has to go to..it doesn't work having kids (for me)

We started getting major leaks around the one skylight over the sink area and one in our family room (I will share the process of getting it fixed in another post).  Since they had to get fixed we are going to paint.  Yippee!!

 Isn't that wallpaper hideous?!

It's starting to feel taller in here already : )

I hope your life is full of wonderful transformations.  Have a great weekend all : )

BTW.. Check out this blog CreateGirl.  She will help you with color for your home and among many other design ideas.  She inspires me and she includes you in the conversation..love that : )

DIY : Making A Side Table

Hope your Holiday's were wonderful!  It's been a very relaxing time for us.
We were invited to a lovely dinner with some new friends at their house.

Betsy was an interior decorator in Upstate New York.  They moved into the home her husband grew up in and they have shown it some love.
Love this room.  So very cozy.

Look at the treasure I found : )

Hanging out...my husband playing guitar with one of their kids.

I get so inspired by DIY projects that are showcased in blogs like Design Sponge that I did one for my husband.

I bought a breakfast tray at a local store and decided to make it into a table for my husband's office.

I bought the legs which had to be the right side table length.

I purchased the top plate which came with the screws.  However, the screws were too long and I didn't want them to come through to the other side.

The wonderful man at Ace Hardware found me screws that were half the size in length.

Attaching leg number one.

Here is the result with the legs not stained.

My husband and I decided to stain it the same color as the lamp you see in the above picture.

Final result..

Here it is in his office..
The chair I refinished with the table and a vintage lamp.  I am just beginning.  I have many more projects in the future for this space.
Have a great week all : )
